hey out there, just bought a 2014 flhtkse and want to do a stage one upgrade,ie s&s head pipes, stock mufflers, stock aircleaner (since it is already high flow). was wondering if anyone knew if I was going to have to do the remap like I had to do on my 2011 Limited . may change out mufflers later date
If you change head pipes, yes. If you just change mufflers no. My advice is to keep the stock head pipes and change the mufflers if you want a bit more sound. Simple 30 minute job and no retuning needed. You shouldn't have any heat issues up in Mass, if I lived in Texas or Florida, I might think of going to a true dual type exhaust and getting the bike on a Dyno to get it running right and a bit cooler.
Most people say if all you change is the exhaust then no you don't need a remap only if you change the air Intake .
That being said every bike will run better with a true dialed in tune .
I used the S&S power tune duals, stock air cleaner, removed the catalytic converter and went with Vance & Hines monster rounds. Love the deep rumble sound. Probably could have kept the stock mufflers and still be decent but I love the V&H.
Check out www.fullsac.com their DX pipe, muffler cores are great products, sound good and they provide great customer service. You can get a turn key package including TTS tuner from them.

Thanks for the great feedback, gives me some good info to chew on. Pretty much seems to be the same info I am gathering from asking around. Hey Blueprint, nice ride. That is what my bike is. I have about 600 mi on it and am pretty impressed with the bike overall. Had a couple of warm days here and took her into downtown traffic and got it warm enough to have the fans start running and got no ping or chatter from engine as I moved through traffic. Am going to have to wait for summer to make final decision on exhaust needs. Big improvement over the 2011, as it would do that in cool weather. Out for now, keep the rubber side down

I recommend changing the air filter and keep the outside original. Short money and get it tuned. I had mine done at Seacoast Harley and I am very happy with the results. S&S head pipes really make the stock mufflers sound nice.

Correct me if I Wrong, but I believe that the OPs bike has a SE Stage I filter set up already.
