CVO Softail Convertible Tail Light - More Lights Please
A friend of mine has a 2011 CVO Convertible...we are trying to figure out how to add more lighting (run / brake / turn) for the rear...the factory stock is not cutting it for him...he has leds but still feels it could use more lighting for proper visibility to the cagers behind him.
Did anyone do any types of mods or have any suggestions to help with this poor design (IMO)?
Try to find a picture of the rear of a Canadian bike, same year/model. We have stricter laws here and they require more lights in the back. My RK has a very large break/running light that the US model doesn't have. I would guess the same might be true for his bike. If so, it would require drilling a few holes in the rear fender, but if he needs more lights, at least it might be a good option, and all Harley parts made for that bike.
Just a thought... Let me know what you find out.
Oh, and the HD website will not be any help. I checked my bike on the Canadian site, and it doesn't show that light....

Try that link. It's the only one I could find that has a clear picture of the stock tail light that is on the canadian bikes, but not the US ones...
That light stays on at all times, and works as a break light as well. Hopefully that helps. Any dealer should be able to order it for you, but I'm not sure about the wiring. With any luck, the harness is already there, but either way it shouldn't be too hard to figure out.
