My 80 FLT is running an S&S "E". Is there an adapter that would allow me to run the original air cleaner with the S&S? Trying to keep the original OEM look.
The "B"...yes...The "E"...No
Ya gotta make an adapter. Or better yet, just make a Custom backing plate. Only downside is..they stick out so damn far. Unless you engineer it to have the same profile as the S&S or even some early OE Backing plates.

Yes there is a company in Germany that makes one...kinda expensive...$140 and I have yet to find anyone in the US that sells it, so shipping and duties will add to the cost.
I don't think this one is overpriced, and seems to be what is required.
In fact it makes me think I can reverse engineer the thing to put an E cleaner onto a CV or maybe a Bendix!!!
I bought that one to try and put old shovel oval air cleaner on an S&S carb...no workie...the holes on both carbs are in almost the same place...just different bolt circle...if you use that one, the air cleaner will be at a 45 degree angle...plus it is not thick enough to clear the S&S carb...you have to use one like this or make your own.

I agree Tom, this appears to be the only style that keeps the a/c oriented correctly. Can't seem to find any other sources other than your $140 German link, either
