I picked up this 81. It was weeping from half of it's gaskets. Still has the cork seals. It's tore down now and am in the middle of mic'in it. So far, valve guides, pistons, wrist pins. The crank so far is looking to be in good shape. I'll find out more during the games tomorrow ( I love to wrench and listen to sports or news radio ). Transmission needed new shifter clutches and I put in an Andrews 4th gear with the o ring to help seal the final drive shaft. We'll see if it helps the tranny shaft leaking issue..Im not holding my breath but the fingers are crossed.
3 times better its high quality metal - has back cut ramps for quicker engagement - and the O ring grove is cut into the gear at the location needed to seal the gear, and the gears race for the main seal to help prevent oil loss between the splines
harley has never fitted its gear and race that way
