Finally I took the wired off the top part of the coil and swapped it out with the one on the bottome and vs vrs. I can now here backfiring in the front cylinder pipe although not as loud primarily I assume because the pipe is longer. That has to be the coil. It is specific to the top port on the coil. I have had two completey different exhaust systems on it and it has always backfired out the rear cylinder but this is the first time I swapped the wires on the coil. dual fire Accel coil.

make sure you replace it with the proper type for the dyna s.

Im sure its a dyna S as I posted a pick of it once on here. Although no markings I was told it was or a knock off of it. What coil should I get for it.

Well I went all out on this. I bought an ultima programmable electronic ignition system, with coil. single fire set up. The local wrench I trust around here says its all he puts in shovels and it is really kicker friendly. I have never been able to kick start this bike. Something about dead revs. I have a 65 ironhead, kicker only and im aware of how to kick a bike over many different ways. So if this takes care of my backfire and allows me to kick now and then, its worth the effort. I hope. Will keep you guys posted when I put it on Friday.

No Dead revs in a Dyna S.
They are just Electronic Points.
If the Chiwanese Ignition fixes it...Cool.
Why single fire??? What is the Claimed benefit?

Inspect the Advance unit carefully when you take it out...Be interesting to know the condition, and If it may have had any effect on the situation.

Ok, this is a totally stupid question but im asking. I got the Ultima programmable single fire kit with coil and am ready to install. The bike came with a dyna s knockoff im thinking and ive been told it is more like electronic points than true elec. ignition and that's cool. The instructions say to remove the module from the cone but says nothing about the counter weights that the dyna has. Does everything come out and the rotor cup go directly to the flywheel bolt? I haven't been inside it yet other than just with the cover off. I want to do this as smooth as possible. I can build engines but for some reason, electronics screw me up.

randy

Thanks

Yes everything comes out...The EI unit has an Electronic advance curve...that's why it is also static timed to TDC!
That Mechanical advance in there should stay on the shelf with your Points plate or/and Dyna-S

Edit;
Ensure that your Indy has set your E.I. to No Dead Revs...Or you won't be Kick Starting that one.
