Just got a 75 FLH the rear lights stay on regardless but turn signals dont work nor break light. The headlight and passing lamps work intermittent if I press and hold down the switch, front turn signals do not light up however I havent checked the bulbs yet. Could this be a ground issue or a switch issue or both?
Sounds like it could be several things. Unfortunately your gonna have to do some more trouble shooting to isolate the problem. Wiring sucks......esp when you have an issue like this.
Best advice......find a wiring diagram for your model online and use a voltmeter to start searching.
the brake light - could be a defective switch and you have 2 of them if its stock
turn signals - orange to flasher in headlight if its an FLH is plus - but they have ground issues and it grounds to the fork tree
running lights sometimes is the 12 volt from the ignition switch
with a test light and taking one at a time - and the correct year wire diagram - its not that bad to trace it 12 in 12 out to what ever and it needs a ground
Make a copy of the wiring diagram in the factory service manual and blow it up to 11 x 17 size then take that and glue it to a plastic board. Will make it really easy to see and trace wires.
