Mine shifts on the left and has 1 up and 3 down. With the drag bars, I can't mount the passenger pegs to the right side due to interference with the pipes.

The '70's FX came with that shift pattern...hold over from the original with a turned around floorboard setup onto the SuperGlide.
I can't see where the rear pipe is interfering with the Swingarm mount for the passenger pegs.
These drag pipes seem to sit a little higher than the stock ones would. If you sit on the bike it compresses the shock and sinks the swingarm further below the top of the pipe.

??? Really got me confused now....Should move the swingarm further above the pipes...does on mine!!!
Racepres you are right.. I don't know what I was thinking. It would push the frame down when you sit on it. Might have to revisit this position. I am taking it apart for the winter, just the tins and going to run the wiring (it has new wire harness and the prev owner just tucked the rest under the seat) and going to paint the tins, add the turn signals, get a new fuel shutoff valve, and either rebuild the "B" carb or maybe install a 78 FL carb and air cleaner I got with the deal. I think the fuel shutoff valve is not shutting all the way off. Also there is oil leaking around the top ridge of the oil tank. I will try to remember to get a picture. Not sure where it is coming from yet. Gonna take it for a ride this weekend before I put it up on the stand.
