I've got a 78 shovel out of frame and planning on tearing down to just see how it is inside before I put on bike. What is the best gaskets and seals to go back with and should I go complete tear down case and all or just upper half. Rockers heads jugs ?

I've noticed in several different threads lately that people are having trouble with the James Silicon or Print gaskets.
I used an entire set of Upper End James gaskets including o-rings and push rod tube seals. I also used them for the primary and derby cover and they leaked. The only ones that haven't leaked or weeped are the nosecone and head gaskets.
They leak at different places, at different times and at different amounts. I'm curious as to who has had the same problem. Yes I have checked all the torques I can and they're spot on. I'm thinking it's just a lower quality gasket. I'm trying Cometic this winter.
Is anyone else having these sort of problems with James?
I stopped using them. They have been sold a couple times and are nothing like they used to be.

Amazing prices and good quality. I'm pretty sure this is the manufacturer that others are rebranding, and charging 10 times as much!!
Cometic gaskets don't bother with James anymore and DO NOT use the plain old paper style except on the nosecone & lifter blocks or you'll be building leaks in.
Yeah better option than the old mylar ones that wouldn't seal till you lapped the cover & mating surfaces flat. I'm a fan of Gasgacinch or Hylomar for oil pumps & tappet blocks.

Cool man. Where can I get these gaskets? From a harley dealer or online. Are the gaskets from a dealer not worth using or are they an option too.
