wacokid, you've not given much info about how it managed to get stuck. But a couple of thoughts before you tear the tranny out of the frame. Take the pressure off the clutch push rod and the clutch release arm. See if you can get the tranny out of 4th by moving the shift lever and shaft by hand.
It would help to know a little bit about the history of the bike....recent rebuild?...barn fresh?...had similar problems before w/ it?...
thanx panz4ever for some ideas.the bikes in nice condition.its originally a 3 speed with reverse but just before i bought was changed to a 4 speed .supposedly brand new tranny.just driving along and when i tried to get back into third it wouldnt go and i just found a neutral.then it popped back into 4th .i was wandering if there is anything that can be done going through the drain plug.thanx alot
PM headed your way. Not gonna be much you can do through the drain plug . Like pan said, get any possible clutch pressure off of it, and try to manipulate it. If that does nothing, drop the oil bag and take the ratchet top off. See if something is broken in there causing it to stay/pop into 4th.
If this is a new tranny, who is the manufacturer, and would it possibly be under warranty?
