Default Fell into this

Hey all. I wanted to share this with a group who will steer me right. I've always said when I grew up I'd get one...has never happened until this past week. Then this past week, the mrs shows me a picture of this bike and asks what I think we would risk for it at auction. Didn't think much of it other than I liked the bike, thought 4k would be great if it won. Well, we won!

So here is the deal. 69 Shovelhead, last inspected in 1992, and looks like it was put away shortly after and lovingly sitting since. All original everything, with just over 6k on the odometer. But will need a going thru to be rideable, and the kicker, No key for it yet...hopefully coming...

I'd love to know where it was made in that years production...the number seems low but??? and also any thoughts on where to draw the line at keeping "barn fresh" oem, vs rideable. Is the untouched worth more? I really don't want to change a thing other than be able to ride. Whatcha think?

Very cool... I'd certainly keep it as original as possible, but it is coming up on 48 years old and even like new the tech is old by today's standards. I'd suggest you do what you need to do to enjoy the ride!

Very nice rig.

I used to have a phone number at Harley that connected me directly to a nice young lady in their records area who within 30 minutes sent me an email detailing everything there was to know about two of my bikes. The date and time they came off the assembly line, the original color, what options they came with and among other things, what dealership they had originally been shipped to. But alas before PM'ing it to you I called it and found that now it no longer goes to a person but rather to a customer service recording. Maybe if you just try contacting the Harley Museum they can connect you to someone who can give you that info. G'luck

Good buy, shovels are not bring much now, yours with the side car will bring more. I have 3 of them just sitting in the garage just waiting for prices to go up.
