my local H-D dealer said the starter relay is NLA and ordered this relay for me. I didn't question it since the new wiring harness had ring connectors that matched up.
This feels like a power problem to me. I have continuity from the white wire at the starter button to the coil and from the black wire at the starter button to the small terminal on the starter relay. With the key on, where should I test for 12 v?

In the fall I'll pull the tranny for a rebuild to fix the leaks and paint my other set of tins original Concord blue.
Nice looking Shovel you have. When you pull the tranny, seriously think about using Andrews gears. They are not cheap but they are top quality and greatly improve shifting (IMO anyway).
