FXE Newbie frame mount Questions
Making good progress on this old thing ('75 FXE). Got the motor freed up and flushed. Compression feels great. I think she'll be a runner.
I'm looking for a little knowledge on a couple mounts. The first is this pivoting arm on the frame underneath the cam chest. I'm assuming part of some forward control setup? Seems too far forward to be an exhaust bracket mount and strange that it pivots freely.
Next question is pretty basic too. The bike came with this exhaust bracket but no pipes. It doesn't really line up at all with the OEM drag pipes I got for it. Is there a standard drag pipe bracket for these frames or were they all a little different? Not afraid to bend and drill but trying to stay close to actual parts of the era (for once).

well your FXE has a floorboard mount on the frame < your swing thing
and your correct the stock exhaust wont fit the drag pipe bracket you have mounted on the frame - you also have the dresser center exhaust tab
