the end of amf was a disaster. machines were delivered to dealers that leaked oil all over the showroom floor brand new and I am not talking about one leak or a few drops

stuff was never tightened and not installed correctly kind of thing - ***** D was re involved by 79 and started to change things around

Is the engine stock? I have a 1978 FXE with a 98" kit that has slightly taller cylinders. IIRC some banging was done to the frame to allow for clearance.

The engine is definitely NOT stock. To what degree, I don't know. When she's running good i can keep up with some of the newer bikes. A friend of mine did accuse me of getting the front tire off the ground in 2nd gear. He could have been exaggerating.

There are casting codes on HD heads. Pics are from a stock 1975 FXE.

My heads seem to have all the casting codes that say they are stock. Learning a lot from all of you. Thanks to all

I don't like the idea of a shaking engine head touching a frame like that. Certainly nothing good could come out of that...

Default Solid mount

Mine is real tight here it's a 51 wishbone frame so this shovel fits real snug. No issues I can see yet and it 15 plus years in this frame

The engine doesn't move in relation to the frame (technically) because its rigidly mounted. The bike and your eyeballs shake instead.

Wonder if they had any that didn't fit at all on the assembly line.
