Default Ignition Coil Location

I'm building a basket case 1982 FXB (Sturgis Belt Drive). I don't have room to mount the ignition coil between the oil tanks and the engine. I built a jockey shift that's going to be tied into the top engine mount, so I can't mount the ignition coil there either. Could I mount the ignition coil under the transmission, or would that be to far for the plug wires?

Thanks for the help.

I wouldn't mount under the tranny, too much road grime and debris. If it were me, I would look to make a bracket that would put it under the left side of the tank.
