Dunno I've been riding the wheels off an AMF bike the last 36 years. It's a numbers game as far as collectibility goes, shovels and back had limited production numbers, twinkies are a dime a dozen, can't throw a dead cat and not hit one after bouncing off another. Give it a few more years you'll be seeing pictures of them out against the shed under a blue tarp rusting away.
And you bought an M8. They're a throw away the moment they roll off the assembly line
I wanted an M8 RKS and opted for the 66 FLH instead

Twisted, my first gear will be going to 8.71 from 8.36 which will give me a little bit lower gear for first but by decreasing the rear sprocket by one tooth I'll be going from a 3.42 to a 3.35. so a lower gear in first and a higher gear in fourth is the total outcome...
Leave your tranny right where it is. Drop a tooth or 3 off your wheel sprocket. Call it a day. (And save $400!)

So yesterday I went for a ride on my Evo that has a 3.28:1 @1:1 and my engine rpm's were at 2750. So i'm think my definite set up on the Shovel will be 24/37-22/47. with the Mid USA kit my first gear will be a little lower from 8.37 to 8.56 and 4th gear will be from a 3.42 to a 3.29. I think this will definitely be a noticeable change for the better... I'm thinking that cruising @60mph will put me right around 2800 rpm (as compared to the same ratio on my Evo) and 70 should be right around 3250 rpm maybe 3300... This be the ratio's i'm looking for... I will be doing this over the winter but will update come spring....
One more question, Does anyone know the guy who machines the main shaft spacer to accept an o-ring to help deter leaks and should I bother..? Thanks again....
we stock the spacer ring and by having a bunch it lets us find the one that fits hi gear exact - a couple tenths one way or the other its too tight or almost too loose
