Ignition switch problem
A couple of weeks ago I got my first Harley Davidson. A 1980 Tourglide. It needs a little work and I got it at a good price. The turn signals are all screwed up and the passing lights don't work. It started and rode around just fine.
I've been working on the turn signals and tracing the wiring down until yesterday.
When I got to it today and tried to turn the ignition on, it wouldn't turn. It don't have a key, but the switch says it is unlocked and the forks are not locked. What could possibly be wrong?
I appreciate any suggestions on this.
I'm sure I will be asking a lot of questions about this bike. It's my first HD. I've had Triumphs and Hondas, but they were mostly toys.

Your "tourglide" sounds like an FLT [TourGlide being a relatively New Mo****r...]
I found a write up on that switch when I was working on my FLHT [1983]
I gave up on the Neck lock part of it... decided I didn't need to lock the forks bad enough to put myself thru that B.S.
It was difficult enough just getting the keyswitch part of the damn thing to function!!!
Google and forum "search" were my friend, but, I really do not recall which writeup I used... but, you'll know when you find it ... It is a Very Good one
Edit; Tom84FXST [member here] was in on that thread I'm positive...

I found the problem, or at least found a work around. When I bought the bike the switch wouldn't turn unless you lifted up on it. It also felt kind of loose. I tightened it up and it works like a champ and I don't have to lift it any more to turn it.
Thanks for your quick response
