Default Snap ring size

The bike is a ‘77 fxe with mid controls. Q— what is the size of the snap ring which attaches to the ball joint on the shifter rod between the ratchet drum and the shifter arm? I lost mine and the none of the ones I’ve purchased at a hardware store fit— some too small and some too big.
Thanks.

Thanks, John. I’ve since found out that it is a 5/16”.
