Adjustable reamers have a purpose but not for sizing valve guides, they don't give a consistent size hole they tend to taper by nature. Been using the neway set since the late 70's. There's another box of stuff to go with that picture, various reamers, hone's and spindle guides for the cutters.

Kinda what I thought..
Certainly if one was ever in "production" there would be more reamers and guides... Only doing Shovels and Ironheads... My "stash" is much smaller!!!!!
But... I need a new reamer for Shovel Intakes '70 - '78... I'll come up with one....

MSC industrial, can order any diameter reamer you need in .001" increments and they have the correct flute configurations for doing bronze or steel. My stuffs strictly for older iron, pans & shovels, enough out there doing everything else I don't need to get into it too.

Well that brings up the question, When you need to find a vendor for say a line reamer for rocker arm bushings or valve guides, who do you guys like to throw your money at? And PLEASE don't say Jims! That's just robbery in my Book......

I realize Good Tools Cost money, But Jim's can't be the only game in town for a Line Reamer

She started blowing a little blue smoke. When I disassembled the top end to replace all the leaking gaskets i discovered the rear exhaust valve was extremely worn/bad shape. I've been knowing this was coming for a while now

Not the Question... but, a valve bad is not necessarily a Guide bad... also... How would you "gauge" the guide "fit" if you have Not removed the Guide yet???
Sorry but... This is Not "one size fits all"

Just fine, most that kind of stuff comes from a few source suppliers and is rebranded and packaged for resale. Avoid the obvious *****a china stuff, while some look good a few uses and their dull.

we buy goodson not cheap but hi quality and great service - some of the bronse guides they sell in 45 material the carbide reamers are 300 each - as a steel reamer will not ream the 45 material

you need to ask before you install what you have bought

I removed the guides from the rear head a while back. That's how I was able to get pictures and take dimension measurements that are posted in the beginning of the thread. Spent a lot of time researching why my dimensions match 74" heads and not 80" heads. I believe John gave a comment about that . . . ? I think I may be guilty of enjoying what I'm learning about Harley-Davidsons history.

. . . and yes . . . The guides were extremely worn. Specifically the rear exhaust, which also had a bad seal.

Anyone watch the "mini-series" called "Harley and the Davidsons"? I wonder how accurate the show was.
