Default Help with a 77

Hi all, I’ve got a 77flh that’s apart for some tlc. Been stood for 12 years but ran great after some fettling.

its fairly rare for the uk in that it’s pretty much original, and I’d like to keep her that way so if it’s alright, I’ll be asking for some help which what parts should be on her as there’s not too much stuff over here.

for starters, how rare are the 77 pannier emblems (I have one broken one and one later type), and does anyone have a low backrest for sale?

here she is before stripdown

cheers

Default More help 77 peg mounts

And another question if I may,

1977 rear peg mounts?

I seem to have part no 52690-77 on the primary side (seems to come in short and long versions-mine is Short but has a different angle to every other one I can find a picture of ), and an unidentifiable one on the LH side, both using the straight 52698-65 extension.

I’ve found pictures of the LH 52686-77, which mounts the same as mine but has a curved shaft.

can anyone throw some light on what the different versions are? It’s unlikely that mine are not original.

Instead of

thanks

jon

ask away

what is not correct in this side is the muffler is a police that year

its missing the Electra glide on the front fender cant tell if the fender tip is 1200 or 80 inch it could be one of them as early and late were different machines ( air filter is 1200 )

that front tire is iffy for thread - the saddlebag lid the end clip in the front we drill a hole in it and put a hair clip in it so you don't loose the lid ( at the back of the bag see how much if any up and down movement the top lid has -- if Any -- its ready to fly off and you wont hear it if you do you will watch someone run it over going back for it )

to me its looks to be a nice 50.000 mile machine -- good luck with it

Can't Imagine why it needs Stripped down... but... each their own... Seems exceptional for the year to me!!!!
My Bitter half has a '74 that is rough as a cob... but, we kinda like it!!!!

Default Help needed

Hi, thanks for the comments.

no plans to ‘over restore’ her, just new bearings, seals etc to make her reliable and usable.

fender tips are 1200, I’ve sourced some correct mufflers, and have got the shinko tyres that are the same as the death grips to fit.

front fender isn’t drilled for the glide badge, and the sales brouchures don’t show them, but I have got some and will probably fit them (I’ve just got a spare fender that is drilled as a template).

the 27000 on the clock would seem original (there’s a shadow of the needle in the zero mph place where it’s faded).

footpeg mounts are odd (I’ve put a separate reply that’s with the moderators (not sure why?), and know about the pannier lids. The old lock barrels had worn so could turn even when the key was removed so I’ve sourced some of them and will add a clip at the front.

I’ll post some pics as it progresses

Default 77

Some other bits that are missing/incorrect

1977 pannier emblems (one broken, one 78 type), timer cover (I believe it should be the brushed Ali one similar to the calliper badge), high back rest (78 and later?).

dash lenses have faded to clear-I’ve sourced the green bit and the correct high beam, just need the oil one (plenty on the bay but shipping is silly expensive-$6 part, $40 shipping.

cheers

If I wasn’t the wrong side of the Atlantic, you’d be welcome to them. The picture doesn’t really show just how rusty they are😎

Same style as the one on it but about half the height (3 horizontal ribs I think). There was a NOS brown one on the bay at $300 or something stupid😂😂😂
