Work begins? I know zero about Sturgis models but that bike looks fairly complete. No?
And from the pic it sure looks super clean.
Nice find!
Only "work" I would put into it...would be finding a Stock Exhaust as clean as the bike!!! Plenty of "work" right there!!!!! But, It deserves it...Someone actually cared about that Bike.
BTW do Not see how "hard" you can charge that battery like that... 2 amps is plenty... over about 14 amps and the voltage regulator is in jeopardy!!!
Edit... I do Not recall if that dash was Chrome, or Black... hope you have the Stocker!!!!!

I already have done several things before that picture was taken.
correct seat, foot pegs, grips, and a few other things.
I have the correct wrinkle black dash, and tank panel. I also have the correct black air cleaner, sissybar pad and pouch.
I have the correct original exhaust. Many people probably think it's 2-1, but that's only correct for 1980. 81 went to staggered duals, chrome heat shields on front and back pipes, black on crossover pipe.
I've been collecting the rare obsolete correct parts for a long time.

I am Familiar with the fact that only the FXE [and FXEF] retained the 2:1 post 1980, Didn't know when the Black heatshield for crossover was started... but my '82 had it. I believe it is a dash 81 part number... Very Cool that you have the parts... and do Not need that [getting very expensive] 2:1 exhaust... they are one Heavy SOB!!!!!
