Default 82 FXR questions

I'm going to start on the FXR base gasket tomorrow, but there are a couple other things that need fixing.

First, where is the horn supposed to be? Nothing happens when I push the button, and I can't find it anywhere. Previous owner probably removed it years ago.

Second, was the speedometer originally an 85MPH one, or is the 150MPH one on it correct? I have both.

Thanks, Joe

the pansy's running the country at that time period though if you had a speedo that said 3000 MPH some would drive that fast in traffic - so 85 was it but the option was 150 that only happened when an FXR fell out of an airplane

good hunting with the gasket

Crouch down on left side of bike at the swing arm pivot, look over the chain guard and there it be. Confirm speedo @ 85.

Well, I'll be... there is the bracket, but no horn. I'll have to figure out how to get to it and install this.

Let us know if it's louder than a normal horn and worth it...

I bought the "Loud" horn from HD for my Evo, which is basically the current stock horn on the modern bikes. It is louder then the stock horn from '97, easy install and not expensive. One of the few times I was in the dealership in the last couple of years.

I bought this and the high note a few years ago to upgrade my Road King. Turns out the stock horn sounded exactly the same as this one. It only costs $15 on Amazon, so if it's what Harley sells as a loud horn, it'll be better than stock and worth it.
