Default Primary' choices

Hi everyone.. please educate me on what will work with what or if even possible.
I have a 75fxe I picked up cheap. Transmission is in good condition frame (with title, reason I picked it up) is stock and solid but motor was a water salvage so I'm not sure it's worth the cost. My motor guy says it can be used but it could have a negative impact on my project figuring out the cost of the unknown for a 74ci motor.
I also have a unused delkron generator style set of cases and a ss 3 5/8. Big bore kit with 4 1/2 stroker flywheels. Heads/lifter blocks from 74in are usable.
Q. Can I or is there a setup to match the two.together in regards to the primary?
I'm not opposed to open primary or something similar just looking for options before I invest.
forgive my ignorance I've only been exposed stock setups in my 65 and 72 flh's.
any help is appreciated ty

If you run generator cases it will most certainly bolt up to the tranny. However, the alternator system is not configured to run with the generator style (although S&S does make a hybrid of sorts).

Water salvage....what's the insides look like? Are we talking completely submerged and in the river, or some flood damage???? If the motor was in water how did the tranny not also go under?

Do not know how it works in New York, but out west, once you change out the cases, the motor no longer matches the frame and the bike gets retitled as a "special construction" and the total of the worth drops easily in half (no matter how much money you throw at it). There are certain states that only title by the frame and you would limited to selling it in those states to get anything back on the investment made.

You could build up the genny cases with the stroker stuff and it will fit the frame most likely. Outer primary will work with a genny inner primary. That said once you have reassembled it all you have a 75 frame with aftermarket cases and some Shovel stuff on top. With cases gone it is no longer a 75.

"Outer primary will work with a genny inner primary"... I appreciate the input
I'm not a purest (did that one with the 65). This bike is strictly for fun so resale and all of that stuff isn't a huge concern.

Bike was completely apart, transmission and motor were not together. Was funny dude had boxes everywhere.
appreciate it

Well heck then, go for it. Need an S&S oil pump, definitely different cam gearing, cam cover and timer. Go for an aftermarket inner primary. OEM will cost you your first born child in today's environment. Ask your wrench about the cam cover. Might be cheaper and less headaches and less costly to use one from S&S rather than trying to source one that might be year specific for those cases. You have got a hug expense already taken care of with the cases, big bore kit and flywheels. You are also gonna want to invest in a different carb (assuming the stock one came with yours).

Get a chance, post up some pics of what you have. maybe think about starting a build thread. You will gets lots of feedback if you wish.

You need to keep the original cases with the frame to keep her numbers matching. Anything else will kill your resale in NY, since you said this bike is a flip for you. I would want to know fresh water or salt water, it makes a difference. Seems to me you are going to be rebuilding an engine either way, might as well stick with the original to keep the paper clean which will increase or maintain your resale value, good luck.
