Default 1982 FXE Superglide power to coil but no spark

My Dad picked up a 1982 FXE Superglide that ran but ran rough. He stripped it down and after putting everything back together didn’t have any spark at the plugs. New coil, new Dyna S ignition, new plugs, new wires. A couple of changes: the new Dyna S ignition did not have what we think is the ignition module (see picture). It is just the sensor plate with wires directly to the coil. Previously, it had a sensor plate with three wires going to the black box that we think was an ignition module, that box had three wires coming from it going to the coil. Also when he took the nose cone apart he doesn’t remember if there was anything between the rotor cup and the cam shaft. I’ve been reading and think we may have misplaced an advance system but do not know much about it. My question is, what kind of advance system should be in this bike, if any, and would it be in the nose cone between the sensor plate and cam shaft? I remember seeing some that that looks like an advance system around but can’t find it. We Have checked all wiring. Grounds are good. Coil/plugs/wires are good. No punches wires.

Yes, I believe all the Dyna S ignitions utilize the original mechanical advance.

I copied this about the Dyna S.

These are the same ignitions as used by top drag and road racers over the past decade to set records and bring home victories. State-of-the-art engineering was used to design these completely electronic ignition systems. The Dyna S is completely housed behind the ignition cover and uses a magnetic rotor with the original spark advancer, so the factory advance curve is maintained, spark energy is second-to-none - and the included coils provide spark voltage in excess of 30,000 volts. This unit works for 1970-1999 Harley applications. See Additional Information below for fitment.

NOTE: 1980 and newer engines will require a mechanical advance unit.

You don't have a mechanical advance, the black box you removed controlled the advance.
