I have a leak from the back side of my primary but I can't tell exactly where it is coming from. I have cleaned and dried the bottom of the primary and there is no leak between the inner and outer but after a long ride, 100 miles, the left rear of the bike had oil film on pretty much everything. When the bike sat overnight after the ride there was a small puddle under the primary area, probably a couple of ounces but there is definitely oil leaking from somewhere. I have the rear chain oiler turned off so it's not that.
The only seals I can see from the parts manual are the one behind the clutch/ main shaft bearing and maybe the starter. Should I just order up these seals and start taking it all apart?
The only other thing I could think of would be if the return line from the primary was leaking but that seems less likely.
The bike is a '79 Electra Glide
My first thought is the transmission mainshaft seal
That was my first thought but I can't figure out a way to be sure.
It seems like I'm going to have to pull the primary to find out. Was hoping I didn't have to
Plan on new seal for inner primary and bearing - plan on new starter bending drive < take the battery and disconnect it - then turn the gear if its free turning in one direction its at the spot it will start to kick out < your choice — pull the kicker cover off and check the throw out bearing take it apart if its blue or grooved replace it
weather is just starting to change done be stuck 100 miles from home

I had just went through the throw out bearing and clutch so all of that is good but I will go ahead with the starter bendix while I have it apart and all new seals and bearing.
Will I need a special tool to get the bearing and seal out?
