Default Confused about these heads

A buddy of mine just picked up a project motor. It’s a 1980, and it definitely has the late model heads with no fins between the head and rocker cover, but the intake spigots are o-ring style. I always thought that any of these “late model” heads would have a band-style spigot. Pics below:

If it’s an obvious question, whatever. I’ve seached a fair bit about the variations of the heads before I saw these. All the info I’ve read seemed to agree that the “no fin” heads were exclusively band intakes and introduced in 1978, and that the second variation (“crown” fins) occupied the 74-77 era. This head obviously doesn’t fit that narrative, so it threw me for a loop. Thanks anyways.

Had an '83 with O-rings... always assumed they were replaced, even if at dealership before sale, as I knew an old Dealer, who rebuilt alot of Shovelheadfs before the Customer got 'em, tho I thought during mid '70's.. Never stressed over it much...as I prefer O-Rings, and if I had the machine/tools, I would be very tempted to "Change" some more..
Also, I have Never seen O.E. Crown heads later than 1976... If those were even stock... But Many Misidentify Heads...

In 50 plus years your lucky its not all stolen parts today - and as said the 75 was production heads late 1975 and on till they ran out of them so factory blending was always possible with AMF who was going broke by then
