Default Recognize this Bike ?

New guy , I’m trying to find this bike , I think it’s a 79 Super-glide but I could be wrong on the year . It belonged to my dad who passed when I was 2 , my mother was forced to sell it. Now That I’m older I really want to buy it back . It was sold on consignment a little over 20 years ago at Fort Lauderdale HD in Florida and spent most of its life in Connecticut before that. If anybody recognizes it please contact me . I would love to buy it back

If you had the chassis number its way easier - but i would look for a copy not having that info available to you

its a kick only FX 1970s to early 1977 the trans is a ratchet top not a Maytag 78 on -

it was mid shift bot it has re pop forward controls - and its also a in the primary belt drive

not sure on the tube stretch but the neck or the tree cups have been altered to kick the fork out a bit

front fender was also clipped all common stuff from then - the plain FX would have had spoke wheels but you have mags not that they could not have been added

the tank badges are no never then 1971 and they did have super glides then and it has a FL type speedo dash set up - it also appears to have a mid type control something right side but i dont see the rear brake pedal yet it has a rear mounted master cylinder

Thank you for all the great info, I’ve never been able to truly identify it . Only reason I knew it was a super glide was from this picture I recently found. Has a sticker on front fork . Wish I could find this thing .

Mom have any papers from CT old reg of even Florida it does not have a license plate do you by chance have that and was it plated in fla

possible motor vehicle search at the main state office using dad name and SSN - DOB - last address it would have been registered to - insurance company he used - maybe an old card - find a picture of the plate it had all stuff that has a home in documents

this kind of info and possibility a kind person at DMV - go through anything mom might have in old paper work - photos

you need to do the foot work

Welcome to the forum. Gas tank name plates are 61–62 style but I can’t tell if they are H-D or aftermarket. They’re often called star badges. Left tank may be 75 or later judging by the fuel tap.

That type of rear brake pedal was introduced at some stage during the 72 model year.

There were several types of name plate for the front end but I don’t know which one that is and it doesn’t necessarily mean the bike began life as a Super Glide. On narrow front ends I think double discs were first used for 77 and I think that was for a Low Rider.

In your photo below notice the two bosses. They debuted on frames for 58 model Panheads and were both required for 58–64. They weren’t needed for 65 Panheads or for 66-later Shovelheads but they remained part of the forging through early-73 anyway. They were finally removed about mid-73 when the forging was changed. Therefore their presence suggests the frame is no later than an early-73 model.

What John said, you need to find real evidence of the bike, VIN#, plate # etc. That bike was customized 20 years ago, no one knows what it looks like today. Very slight chance you are going to bump into the bike looking even similar to the pics you are posting. The only way to identify her will be with a VIN #. Sorry, but that is your reality. Dig around in all the old shoes boxes, any scrap of paper may help you out and then DMV searches.

All of that typed, maybe you just find a similar bike and make it look like Dad's bike? I know, not the same, but it might get you to the finish line. Good luck.

Update I found the Vin. Bike was registered as a 73 FXLH Vin - 2C19761H3 . Done a lot of research and the most current title says its in Washington. No reports or DMV will give me owner info.

I'm glad you found your Dad's bike, but someone along the line messed up the model, there is no such thing as an FXLH. Good news is 2C = FX-1200, so it was indeed a super glide.
