i wonder if this is the different year because my #3 block has no other wires plugged into it. do you think I just need to get power to the orange line with the tape on it.
One other question the directional are not lighting with just the key on front or back but I don't have everything bolted on yet. I treid grounding the light bar but still nothing but i do show current in the violet and brown lines going to the light

Forget what you have and go by the diagram posted - forget what your confused about and follow the wires and plug in every body to its correct spot then ask again - everyone is trying to help but with the wire not in the correct locations and others taped no one is on the same page

All the wires are in the correct locations my dad had this bike since 1974 but when i took it apart these few came out and i dont know where they came from. Im not going to move them all to a 72 wire configuratuon. I took detailed pics of everthing but the panal. My mistake

Doubt yer gonna measure Current... but
12v on brown wire will light the right turn signal lamps..while 12v on the violet wire will light the Left turn signal bulbs
If it is wired correctly..
Remember... the Violet and the Brown from the 4-ways is an Output to the Lamps... just like the 12v on the Brown, and/or Violet coming from the Left/Right Handlebar button...to the Lamps

all the wires in the correct locations —- but a few are out —— did you read what you wrote

the posted diagram if you pay attention will show you what spots to put them back

These are from my 1979 owners manual but still relevant to most shovel dressers

It is not in the Manual drawing, but the passing lamps are fed from terminal block 7 via a scotchlok (37) on yellow wire , then to a SPST toggle switch, then to block 9 ,which both lamps connect to. 7 is livened up from the low beam switch so that the passing lamps go out if you switch to hi-beam.

My observations:

You have four turn signals and no passing/running lights, in the front, no idea what is going on in the back. So we can assume already that things are no longer setup as stock. You should have two toggle switches, one turns on the passing/running lamps, the other is for the four way hazard flashers. The wires for the passing/running lamps will be light grey.

As stated, wire per the provided diagram, no variations. But I am not sure how it will play out with all of those turn signals? Two will be like running lights, but you need to use the toggle switch to turn them on?

Keep in mind in 1970 the front turn signals do NOT come on with the headlight, no amber running lights. That feature comes out later, not in 1970.

I hope this helps, good luck.
