John, J&P Cycle has their chrome tank for $149.99 and Tedd's V-Twin tanks for $132 in chrome, $128 in black. New tank could be a quick fix to my issue.
Any thoughts on getting the tank I have sealed/welded? Probably not worth it for a repop tank!?!? And will be about $150 form my usual guy that does gas tanks for me.
Decent looking black tank on the Bay, the seller usually has good OEM parts, could be rattled canned and cleaned out:
I've never been a fan of chrome,
it falls off ally & when it goes on steel it looks nasty, & factory chrome isn't any better, have seen rims, fender struts & sissy bars rusting on Harley's less than a year old,...
I use wrinkel black on most chrome after blasting for a good key for it to stick to,
i do like polished aluminium though, & have hand polished most on my bikes, takes time but always looks good, even if ya leave it in a pond for 40 years, you can always get it looking good for just a few hours of elbow grease....
i also wouldnt line it with a tank sealer, had nothing but grief with the stuff & if it is a split or crack, once lined, you'll NEVER be able to weld it & do a proper repair without having problems getting the liner out,
I'd get a good used Factory tank off of Ebay or the like & paint it, even if you have a lot of chrome the contrast looks good,....

Billy buy that one in black - we all know in certain circumstances chrome will get you a blow job BUT the real ones work and it has the alloy trim you can polish to see if you have bugs in your teeth
