Bendix Butterfly Carbs
The throttle shaft has felt sealing rings in the body that I replaced with o-rings.
The throttle plate has tapered edges that have to be installed in the right direction. Then I staked the screws with a pair of channel lock pliers. I did the choke plate similarly.
The question of closing the accel pump hole answered itself. I was told you can't use late model bowls on older carbs, but it wasn't clear what late model meant. Clearly the bowl with the extended accel pump nozzle is late model, and can't be used on my carb. That meant using the bowl with the closed up hole.
I sanded the carb and manifold mating surfaces with 320 grit paper on a piece of glass. Initial sanding shows how they warp over the years and need to be brought back to flat:
Here are the mostly finished products, waiting for the brass inlet valve and float needle. Not 100% perfect, but as close as I can get.
