If you can`t get the tools between the inner primary cover and the transmission case, just pull the inner primary cover...
That would be the conventional way, I'm not very conventional. Just not having to break the comp nut, pull the clutch hub and safety wired hardware would be nice. Then again pulling the inner primary is a task that anyone owning a shovel should not shy away from. Just seems like a lot of work just to get to the adjusting bolt to center the pawl on the cam pins.
I'll probably pop the trans cover and discover all in fine, I always hope for the best but plan ahead of time for the worst.
FWIW...a shortened Hex wrench, and also a Modified End wrench... both lying around my shop, are all that I ever needed to "adjust" 5 speeds, completely assembled..
Ok thanks. that's what I was looking for. It can be done and apparently there is enough room to swing the wrench while holding the hex in the adjuster.
