I rarely use the E-start on my '83, the only Harley I've ever owned that wasn't kick only. It's a little for showing off and a little to tell me if something needs looked after.

Yes... A very good way to intercept problems... My FXR kinda spoiled me... so the old 4-speed gets Kicked!!!!
1976 HD FXE Superglide. I repainted it using the original OEM decals, but I cut out the AMF part of the decal before applying them. It was originally brown, and it one of a very few I've seen in that color.
hate where the big bulky instruments are mounted. fat bob tank mounting looks heaps better
I did as well, back in the day when these bikes were new. My first was a 79 FXEF, loved the look. Now I have this gauge cluster and turtle tank grows on me every time I look at it now. I also dont see many like mine. Baggers, Garbage Barges as we called em were also not in favor - funny how tastes change.
I like the superglide tank because it shows off the motor. Single speedo mounted on the handlebars looks a lot better with a superglide tank, who really needs a tach on a shovelhead?
Joe12RK,
I totally agree with you that the single clock mounted on the trees looks better,
I think it helps lighten the looks of the bike as well giving a more sporty feel (if a Shovel can look 'Sporty, hahaha), they are not as heavy looking while showing off the motor better,
& what i didn't realise till I looked up the factory listings for capacity, is that there is only .1 (point one) of a gallon differance, between the Superglide tank & the factory 3 gallon fatbobs, so you'd hardly even get any extra mileage outa them, one tenth of a gallon extra will hardly get ya anywhere,
but I remember back in the day, some I knew fitted fatbobs thinking they'd get extra miles outa them before filling up, thats only the case with the 5 gallon tanks that compleatly hide half the bike.
