My buddy has a stack of receipts from '92-'96 of work that was done to his 1980 FXS. One of them is $50 for a 2" chop. My question is what could be cut 2" in '94 and only cost $50? The frame looks pretty unmolested except the VIN on the neck is very faint, maybe painted over a couple times??
I see fork oil??? Prolly shortened the Forks.. Don't know why tho...as the FXE of 1980 would have had The shorter fork..
maybe cutting was Cheaper than Replacing???
beat me to it Racepres, i reckon it was for shortning fork tubes...a style I never got into....
The FXS had 2" over from the FXE.. So Not much "shortening" really..
BTW that is why the Brochure claimed a Different Rake!! Fun With H-D marketing!!!!
i liked my FXS a lot & have FXS front end on my latest shovel, (the Keeper in it's loving home for life !! haha),..,... the 2'' extra on the forks just adds a little bit of style kinda lacking on the FXE

Yes, with a superglide tank, my FXS looks much better than the standard superglide.
nice looking ride Joe12RK,....
I realy dunno why everyone fits the fat bobs, they are only about 1/10 of a gallon bigger than the Superglide 'peanut' tank,
which i reckon looks better as well as showing off the motor rather than burying it.....

Be nice now! I like my split 3.5 gallon tanks. I have one of those small tanks as well kicking around, the guys up here call it the loaf of bread tank.
1/10 of a gallon don't really make them 'small', thats about 5 miles more....
I know it's not a huge difference but the single tank does look smaller than it is with the lack of speedo and single cap. Certainly changes the look and I have one sitting on another bike right now to see if the look suits the build.
