Hi, is this normal? From memory, my 1976 shovel didn't have a height difference between the inner chain case and the engine, however, as you can see on my 1978 FLH there is a difference in height. Which is really bugging me.
I'm thinking of getting another inner case from Zodiac or CCI (if thay have any), I'm just worried it will
be the same problem. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the case installed atm is an after market inner case, as I don't think the numbers are Harley...unless I'm wrong. Hopefully someone can enlighten me. Thanks in advance.

Your inner primary is a Harley part for a Sturgis belt drive.
Right, so is that because the bike had a belt drive conversion do you think?
So a belt drive conversion won't work with a standard inner case?
Thank for replying. Now I think I will have more questions.

the number in the case is a sturges cast / part number?
I had a 1976 FXE with factory primary that fit well. It had a Primo belt drive in it that was just fine for a couple of years. When the belt went I switched it back to a chain with no issues.
