Have the factory service manual, its a little confusing with names of parts. Torque the inner primary to transmission first, 18-22 ft/lbs. Torque the inner primary to motor next 22-26 ft/lbs. Torque transmission plate to frame, unknown torque value, lastly torque transmission to plate, left side first check for any gaps, shim if necessary, then right side, unknown torque values or just till tighten. Sound right? Order correct? Values correct? Thanks
You don't want any gap at the inner primary to engine mounting ears, if there is any gap the inner primary case will crack there.
mine had a crack at the top ear. had it welded and cracked again new primary time. this time loosened engine and trans .primary should slide on with no force
I understand the possibility of cracking the inner primary, what Im trying to find is the torque specs for the 8 bolts/locknuts that hold inner primary on. Are the numbers in my original post correct or not. Also would you use blue loc-tite on them. Thanks

when i changed mine 35 yrs ago i never used a torque wrench. just a socket and ratchet .the bolts have never loosened
The primary to engine bolts are 5/16" bolts with 1/2" heads. They get 18-22 foot pounds.
The Transmission to Primary nuts or bolts are 3/8" with 9/16" heads and get 35 foot pounds.
I use blue loctite on them all, whether also Safety wired or with Lock Nuts. It is important to follow the procedures to insure alinement and also to prevent ears breaking off.
I broke several bolts torquing the inner primary on. I don't remember the spec but it was on the low end of what the good book says. Go with the tighten but don't torque then safety wire for the win. I got lucky. Every bolt I broke came out with no problem.
