My original tach on my 76 FXE quit. I swapped in an 82 tach I had. Looks eh but gives me enough info. Funny I did get my trip odo repaired during the build. The tach failed after the completion. 1982 Tach on 76 FXE with new color. Original tach. Maybe someday Ill get it repaired.
Also showing older paint. Had to swap out this first fuel tank and paint all the tins.

The FX-FXE tachs did not have a high beam indicator on the tach face. That sporty tach appears to be the free standing type for lack of a better description. I dont think that fit the dual gauge FX instrument housings. I dont have my parts book with me Ive been away at the beach closing a cottage for the season.
Hmmmm .there was no pic or description of your original tach or mounting location tank or bars. Looks like they used a couple diff configurations depending upon fuel tank. I am mostly familiar with the dual gauges in a housing used with the single super glide fuel tank or the early low rider style gauges.

I have called a number of places that fix electronic tachometers but they tell me they only do automotive. I have not called the above place but will give it a try. I have thought about getting one of the other NOS tachs (plastic housing) and see if I could use the internals. This is the style I have with a $80 repop tach. Should have HD on it like the speedo. I think the problem is that these tacks are sealed but do not know for a fact.
