On My 73 FX I have installed a stock starter, with 4 Gage wiring and a bigger battery. When I use the button or jump the posts on the solenoid the starter gear hits the ring gear it looks like it is about a 1/4" low. is there a way to adjust the starter toalign the ring gear and starter gear? Thanks Scott

If you do Not hold the end of the starter...with the Outer Cover, it will Never line up..
If you are testing with a Cut up Outer primary...then??? wrong Bendix gear??
I do Not understand "bigger battery" physical size means about Nothing.. the SuperGlide battery (TS20) is plenty... I made a "box" for the FL fitment..

Original fx primary cover that I installed the bearing in. Larger battery because I have a horse shoe oil tank. I can see the starter gear hit the ring gear if I take off the derby cover and look up with a flashlight when trying to engage the starter. I did not know there are different Bendix gears I will have to check on that. Thanks
