Hi i have a softail rear wheel 1990 does it fit on a fxe 1978 ?

it should fit easily, maybe with a dished sprocket and spacers,... i recently fitted an 04 roadking 'Wagon Wheel to my 78 shovel and to be honest it was almost a drop in unit as long as you dont go for a later Harley 'fat' rear wheel as the swingarm will not allow a fatter rear wheel

 

I put 1996 Fatboy wheels in my 84, don't think it's any different from a 78.

 

It'll bolt in, just check the rotor spacing depending on what brake you use. Upgrading to a later rear is a bonus.
