4 Speed Open Belt
I had it adjusted pretty well at first but since I didn't have a lock not at the cable adjuster where it threads into the frame, it kept coming out of adjustment. It would slip really bad come from a stop into first and would also slip at high RPM in 3rd & 4th at highway speeds. I was able to limp home but I put a lock nut on so I hope that fixed the cable slack.
What tension am I looking for on the belt? In the past, I've used my inner primary as a template for the tranny spacing but it seems like that might be a tad too far for the belt tension? Other question is would a belt that's too tight cause me issues with trying to kick it over? Too much tension on the compression stroke - keeping me from kicking it through. That type of thing.
It's an absolute MF'er to kick through on the compression stroke. I've confirmed it's not binding @ the kicker gears but it feels like I'd need 2 of me to kick it through (I'm not a small guy either). I'm hoping it's just a simple adjustment because I don't remember it being like that before I chopped it while it still had the OEM clutch/primary setup.
