Way too much oil, original system dripped oil onto chain and what accumulated in primary was continually scavenged back to tank so very little was actually in the primary at one time.

Ok, I'm trying to learn. With it being sealed now, would you say I should take inspection cover off and just make sure the bottom of chain is covered?

I find it easier to remove the derby cover, you also get a better view of the low part of the chain that way.

I also remove the derby cover and the oil level, with the bike upright, is just submerging the bottom few teeth on the starter ring gear on the clutch basket . I have heard that the volume at this point is 6 oz but I never measured it.

Thanks

YES, that looks right assuming that the bike is on the side stand.
The primary CHAIN lives in an oil MIST environment not an oil BATH. If the oil level is too high the clutch plates and friction plates will just slide against each other.

No Way I run nearly that much..contaminated Clutch Plates. Again...the Shovelhead clutch is Dry!! If contaminated the Best that happens is Slipping, Ther Worst..and most cxommon..Lurching, dragging , generally Grabby!!!
There is another Great reason I am Against Isolating!!!! The Second is that the primary needs to be sealed up anyway... for stock system to function!

Thanks guys. I just took some fluid out.

Here's some new pics this time on the side stand.

With this being isolated is this enough to keep my primary chain ok?
