Yes...I agree.. They Never really did have their "Finger on the Pulse"..always Late Comers!! Ohhh...No not always...The Softail was an Instant Hit..Now OverDone...
BTW Hellonewman...Who converted yer '84 from Belt to Chain??
Why?
Just Curious..
Im not sure who did the conversion or why. The PO is long dead but in all the parts the widow said I could have along with the bike, the belt pulleys were there along with the oil tank, battery box and tray, original front wheel and some of the stuff I put back on. Being a cowpie trans the pivoting lever thats just inboard of the inner primary does the funky chicken when I move the shifter. The bushing left the chat but the bike still shifts. Im thinking I'll end up pulling the primary to fix that and swap back to a belt at the same time, thankfully the belt guard is still on the bike. I have all of that Live to Ride stuff if you want it. The eagle Spirt stuff was on another bike I had.

11" shocks. I checked the clearance to my primary under the starter and there's lots of room. My 82 is fine with the same length shocks as well. I'll dial up the preload just to make sure the chain stays away from the primary when I go over tracks or hit dips in the road.
