No need to drive the bike to see the fuel difference between on and reserve.
With the bike upright just pull the fuel hose from the carb, put the end in a container and put petcock on "on" to drain. When its drained, put the hose in a different container and put it on "reserve", which will tell exactly the difference.
I've done this several times, and it was way less than I expected, but mine has aftermarket everything.
