Mag Wheels
Have the original mag wheels that came w/ my 76 FLH. I intend to put them back on but would like to clean them up first. If anyone is running these, you know how coarse the finish is (seems as tho they cast them in a course bed of river rock). So my question is...what do I use to clean them up. Went to the local auto parts store, only because it is a couple of blocks away, to look at mag cleaning products and the ones I looked at state'do not use on motorcycles...

Glass beading will clean them but not keep them clean. As far as polishing...not an option. Bike is original w/ just over 5,200 documented miles...and it can only be original once!

wow 5200 miles[sm=jawdrop.gif] what a gem. we use simple green and another product at the shop thats purple something? they are both organic and does a nice job of cleaning for us and hasn't stained or done any damage to anything. when we clean wheels we spray the product on let it sit for a few minutes and use a brush to get the gime out of the deep down areas. As you know the rougher the material is your trying to keep clean the more difficult it is to do so. Sure would like to see some images of your 76 not only does my friend have a 76 that was the year I graduated from High School.
