Default Rocker box tick

Got the 84 shovel on the road late last night. Everything seems pretty good outside the normal fine tuning after a rebuild except that I noticed a small ticking in the rear rocker box. Heard this on Saturday after running the bike a short while in the garage. Waited for it to cool down and readjusted the pushrods. Still there. Any ideas guys?

Pictures soon of the assembled bike.

Have you checked the axial play for the rocker shafts. Too much and they can tick. There are shims available.
Sometimes when folks use large diameter pushrods (like aluminum ones) they hit the pushrod tubes and make a ticking sound.

Yep thats where to start.
if you were to remove the push rod and tubes inspect the push rods. It will be obvious if they are rubbing the tubes.
with the push rods removed you can now do a quick check to see if the rocker shafts are loose by peeking up the hole the push rod registers and see if you can get movement side to side. not a very scientific way to check but will give you and idea if things are to loose.

I won't need to remove the heads again to shim up the rocker shafts will I? Kind of thought that could be the problem.
