hey, anyone converted from the PUSH tillotsen to the PULL ss e and know the INTERNAL cable length and part #? I have everything else. OEM new housing , PULL at bar end , etc, just cannot find the wire long enough....
I have actually drilled out the welds and removed my internal throttle out of the old bars,,, cleaned ,polished and greased. I ran a test mock up on an old drag bar with a "el cheapo" universal cable off of a snowmobile...Ihave aircraft cable cutters ...able to cut the sheilding to size with little effort....I had mocked it up on a SU carb (no barrel needed on cable). I had also hookedup another return spring for good measure ....worked great....much cheaper than an EXILE kit.

I converted my 72FX and 69FLH w/ S&\\;S super E carbs back to the orgional internal throttle using the orgional 2pc \\;handlebars and throttle. The trick I learned is using a rear brake cable for a bicycle. The cable is plenty long enough and is stranded \\;which will flex to fit around the linkage on the S&\\;S. The diameter of the \\;barrel on the end of the brake cable will have to be filed a little to fit in the hole on the carb linkage. The rear brake cable only cost about $3, so you might wanta pickup a couple incase you screw one up.

im actually beginging my first build and working out a few details on paper while im getting cash together for the next round of parts ,
on the note of using the origional 2 pc, \\; can i just hook up a regular throttle like a slim throttle and drill the bars and send the cable through or do i actually need to find a unit that has an internal bering system like the far to expensive exile kit
my only concern is the bend in the throttle cable where it mounts to the throttle assembly trying to get it as flush as possible even tho ill prob end up tieing one of my bandana's around it anyway just trying to find a way to keep it as flush as possible up on the bars without handing my pay check over to exile
If your gonna use an origional 2 pc handle bars that had the internal throttle set up (1974 and earlier), you won't have to do any drilling or altering to the bars, use the existing outer spiral throttle cable #56503-65 to slide the bicycle rear brake cable into. There's a \\;plug #56410-53 \\;which secures the outer spiral cable \\;inside the handle bars up at the throttle (underside of the handle bar near the throttle grip is a set screw #2594 \\;that locks the \\;plug \\;in place). Earlier shovelhead service manuals and parts manuals will show an exploded \\;view of the internal throttle set up.

ah much thanks sir , ill have to hunt one of these down and see if i can make it work , prob going to be putting different style bars on , but as long as i can find an internal throttle set up on some where \\; at least i'll make it work on my bars \\;
