Just use your manual and check out the stator. It is pretty easy. I have had the plug fall out a once. Never again. I doubt that is the issue. Check the wire from the regulator to the battery. The damn things are about 3 feet long and guys just wad them up under the engine. I always trim it to fit and tie it up out of the way. I had a regulator fail a couple of years ago. I know how valuable the kicker is too.&nbsp\\;&nbsp\\; Ken

The first test I would do is put a voltmeter across the battery with the motor running if the reading is around 14 volts at a fast idle you are still charging.&nbsp\\; If not follow the manual and test the alternator.&nbsp\\; If it is the alternator I would recommend the 22 amp system they used in 82.&nbsp\\; Harlely still sells it.
&nbsp\\;
Check the simple things first.&nbsp\\; Battery terminal and ground connections.&nbsp\\; A loose terminal will keep the battery from charging.
