The oil slinger goes on the rod first slingers to the right side of the bike One washer goes on next then the bearing washer then the other washer Now you need a new clip to hold this all on The skinny part of the slinger faces the left side of the bike

You need to get a hard copy of a service manual and a parts manual. The service manual will answer a lot of questions and the parts manual has exploded diagrams and part numbers. Unless you have a computer and internet connection next to the bike an online manual isn't much use. I've worn out a half dozen service manuals over the years. Use them, get them greasy, write in them, when they get too nasty buy a new one.

Buy the new manual, cut the spine off and put it in the document protector sleeves one page at a time and put into a loose leaf notebook. it keeps the pages clean and it lays flat.
