Heat dissipation The coated ones hold in the heat ( so they say ) go with the uncoated
I was just wondering about this issue also...having to replace my stator again. (I had a 600 watt Bluetooth speaker system hooked up and I believe it was pulling to much amps and fried the stator). Already replaced voltage regulator and that didn't
resolve the problem.
I believe I've read that the cycle electric brand stator is a pretty good one. Don't know what brand you priced up there but you might have a look at them.

I changed out my stator in my 83 FXR about 1.5 years ago and was able to order an HD stator ( correct part Number for my bike). It wasn;t old stock because they were back ordered through HD and I had to wait an extra week to get it.

Yes, and last I heard, made in USA.. Worth a look, based on all the great feedback
Hi, If that was pulling 600 watts, divide 600 x 12.6 and that's how many amps its pulling which comes to around 47.6 amps. 47 to 50 amps the battery can handle that for a while but most motorcycle charging systems can't keep up. I think the rule of thumb you need about a 3 amp overhead to keep a battery charged. that includes all system requirements, lights, ignition, etc.

I'm pretty sure I burnt up the Stator.....l'll post pictures of it once I start tearing into this project. (Monday morning)
I have never seen any difference in how long one lasts - coated or not coated - but the china run of the mill is junk - some company’s sell USA made stators and they are way better then the typical bike shop everyone sells stator - cycle electric sell one but they over charge for everything they sell no matter what it is
