Yes...I will keep you posted on trying to use a die to fix the threads...I have my doubts a die will be of help in this awful mess I created.
We need pics!!
I almost made the mistake you made on the M8 section, I wasn't "feeling"" a response that "Steve" sent me. I was fairly new to the section so I just sucked it up and moved on. It was good thing because Steve turned out to be Steve Cole, the developer of the HD tuners for EFI , who is now the developer and owner Master Tune TTS. He is a major contributor and helped everyone through the rough patches that the M8 experienced during it's first couple of years on the street.
John is THAT guy on this forum, just thought you should know.
I guess you have no need for my help sorry i was giving you the jazz - its a grown up site BTW
John....sorry I flew off the handle to your response earlier....I do need help/suggestions that's why I came to this forum....I felt you were being snide with the "wow...I'm impressed" remark....with my bike needing repair....a response like that is not helping me out one bit.
My suggestion about the thread file is valid - its the only way we would do that repair and then be able to re use the thread
I was not aware of a thread file John....I'll have to get one and try using it "before" using a die.....Thank you for your suggestion....the damage it pretty bad (have doubts they can be repaired actually).

start looking for a crankshaft assembly that was a crash take out for couple hundred bucks - complete engines i have seen for 1200 bucks that even = better
