Default heads

My question, will 1340 [80ci] heads bolt up onto the 1200 [74ci] shovel? Springer answered and only said to get after market heads and i will not know the difference. I know that the better you can get the fuel in and out that it will perform better. I was wanting to use the 1340 heads because of the larger valves. My cylinders and pistons are all good and only wanted to bolt the 1340 heads up with a larger cam for more harley go.Thank you

Can`t reallt comment on if heads will fit, only the standard bore foe 74" I think is 3 7/16 and 80" is 3 1/2. Don`t know if that`s any help. I am I`m sure that if you up in a larger cam make sure the springs are set up for the cam or the valves might go through the pistions. Good Luck, Daryl

The heads will bolt on. Most 80" heads use an o-ring for the intake seal and 74" use the rubber band style.

I have that backwards. I was on the phone typing. The 74" uses the o-ring, the 80" uses the band.

Default RE: heads

shovelheads are all the same...well allmost, but 1340 heads will go on 1200 and the other way around, the vavle size are the same, the better 1s to look for are the early 74 heads flow well and have alot meat in them to port on,the late 80in heads work well also and come with hardend seats in them allready they take a long reach plug, but won't take a verybig cam without hav'in them set up for a cam of choice. if you have good heads now have them rebuilt with a good vavle job and set for a cam and run them, shovelheads arin't the best flowing heads but they are tricks to make them go!
