Low fuel in filter

I don't know if I have a problem or not but the fuel level in my inline fuel filter is low, about 1/4 full. The other day while riding the bike stalled and the filter was empty. I loosened the fuel line at the petcock and the filter refillled and I went 150 mile with no problem, still the level of fuel in the filter seems low to me. The bike is a 79 FXS 1340 with and S&S Carb.

Thats no problem as long as the bike runs good I don't like in-line filters not only do you get stressed out when you don't see a full filter but pending how the filter is run from tank to carb vapor lock can be a problem

Yes as long as you have one on the petcock off the tank

Yes I have one on the petcock and I just cleaned it a couple weeks ago.
